The Need
Little to no support is available to underprivileged youth (in school or outside) to choose an interest-aligned career.
90% youth passing out of 12th grade each year don’t have a clear plan for next steps.

Exposure gap. Most students aware of only 5-7 careers
Societal push towards ‘stable’ careers
Lack of relatable role models and inspiration
Lack of agency and confidence to explore/learn
The combination of these factors leads to students making poor career decisions, resulting in:
Almost 30% of India’s youth are NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training). 50% of India’s youth don’t feel their post secondary education has increased their chances of a job, and 40% youth want to move out of their first job.

Meet the Co-founders
Our co-founders Divakar Sankhla and Parinita Jain have been in the education space since 2012. Their experience as Teach For India fellows led them to identify a major challenge among young people – loss of potential due to lack of clarity and support. In 2016, their solution to this problem was selected as top 6 ideas globally by the World Bank’s Youth Summit on Rethinking Education.
Divakar (IIT-M, IIM-L) leads Growth and Strategic Partnerships at Alohomora. He has a corporate background of 5 years with PepsiCo and Citibank. He was a Teach For India fellow from 2012-14 and has been in the development sector since.
Parinita (Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan) leads Program and Impact at Alohomora. She has been a TEDx speaker and worked with her family business for a year before entering the development sector, following her Teach For India fellowship in 2012-14.
